Religion hasn't really contributed to my personal history in the traditional way. My parents are areligious, and I've never been to church. My family doesn't say grace before we eat, and I don't pray before I go to bed. I don't attribute everything that happens to "the will of God," and I don't ask him to help the Lakers win game 5.
Despite this, I still think that religion has had a profound effect on me. Most, if not all, of my friends have followed some sort of religious system. They've often asked me to come to church with them or go to youth group. And, through spending time with these friends, their actions have definitely had an effect on my own moral and ethical code.
Another way that religion has deeply affected me is through my travels. I've been all around South East Asia and visited quite a few more countries in the world. While traveling, I've experienced countless cultures and experienced transcultural as well as specific cultural mores and ideas.
So although I'm not religious, I still have been very deeply affected by religion and religious activities.
