Gandhi's idea of Hinduism included acceptance of others and non-violence. He believed that all people were equal and they should all embrace each other as family. For example, he told all Hindus in India to accept Muslims in India as brothers. He also believed that any unfair or unjust governing power could be overthrown without raising a hand or a gun. This was shown throughout the movie. On multiple occasions Gandhi fasted in order to stop all violence in the country. He also gave countless speeches promoting non-violence. Gandhi's idea of Hinduism was a very peaceful and accepting one.
"A true disciple knows another's woes, as his own. He bows to all and despises none."This is one quote from Gandhi that he didn't write. He was quoting it from a hymn he heard as a small boy in church. This quote means that a true follower of Hinduism puts others difficulties in front of his own, is respectful to everyone, and hates no one. Gandhi definitely lived by this quote. He always thought of others as more important to himself. He is always respectful to others and is extremely humble. He also never even seems to dislike anyone. For example, even after Gandhi found out that Nehru had been trying to manipulate him the whole time, he still treated him as a friend and offered him the position as prime minister of India. This shows his acceptance and respect towards others and how he lives with this quote in mind.
