Modern Religious Experience: Reflection #5: Bongwonsa Temple and Nature Walk

Modern Religious Experience: Reflection #5: Bongwonsa Temple and Nature Walk: "After visiting the Zen Buddhist Temple, Bongwonsa and attempting to see nature as a Taoist, answer this question: What is it about creation,..."

Creation and nature are so amazing, so unfathomable, that no human can begin to describe either of them without reference to the "supernatural" world. Yes, science can explain some things, in fact, it can explain many things. But does it answer this question: What happens when we die? What about this one: Where do we come from? Can it explain the incalculable power and mysteriousness of the human mind? Maybe to an extent, but probably not to anyone's entire satisfaction. So what can? The answer is religion.

Take Christianity for example. It gives us answers to all these questions - We were created by God, an all-powerful being. When we die, we either go to Hell to pay for our sins or Heaven to be rewarded for our virtues. The human mind is separate from the body, it is part of your spiritual being. The body is just a vessel.

The fear of the unknown. Herein lies the reason that humans "seek out religion". This is the ultimate reason that people "spend their lives seeking out religious truth, nurturing faith, or worshipping creation."  It is impossible for us, as human beings to not know anything. It goes against our nature. It drives us crazy.
